As shown in the illustrated example, the web servers are performing processing on data retrieved from the database and servicing the web requests. Minimal, if any, permanent data is stored on the web servers. The web servers are perfectly suited using the Business Class tier. They need a higher level of performance with a good SLA as does each web server.

Finally, because the database server has single points of failure, we want the highest level of availability, performance and SLA possible. This solution harnesses the power of the MiraCloud Enterprise Class with its full motioning capabilities, higher IO performance and resilient infrastructure.

WEB + APPLICATION + DATABASE

This configuration utilizes the power of the MiraCloud integrated software load balancer to balance between a cluster of web content caching servers in the Convenience Class cloud. Caching servers can be added as needed and do not offer the same level of resiliency as our web, application and database tiers.

In the cases where dynamic or real-time data is needed, or the caching server lacks the data, the cache server will relay to its designated web server. Notice in the illustration how the web servers run in a redundant pair. The web servers are perfectly suited using the Business Class tier. They need a higher level of performance with a good SLA as each web server services twice as many caching servers.

Finally, because the application server and database server are single points of failure, we want the highest level of availability, performance and SLA possible.

WEB + MEMCACHE + DATABASE

This configuration utilizes the power of the MiraCloud integrated software load balancer to balance between a cluster of web servers in the Business Class cloud. In this example, the web servers are performing processing on data retrieved from the database and servicing the web requests. Minimal, if any, permanent data is stored on the web servers. The web servers are perfectly suited using the Business Class tier. They need a higher level of performance with a good SLA as each web server.

Illustrated is an example configuration where the cost competitive aspects of Convenience Class truly shine. The Convenience Class is being used to power a cluster of Memcache servers for the database. These are purely database caching servers and need RAM as the highest resource. Disk performance and SLA are secondary factors for driving performance. It is all about memory.

Finally, because the database server has single points of failure, we want the highest level of availability, performance and SLA possible. This solution harnesses the power of the MiraCloud Enterprise Class with its full motioning capabilities, higher IO performance and resilient infrastructure.

WEB + NOSQL

This configuration utilizes the power of the MiraCloud integrated firewall. It is a simple, cost-effective deployment of a web server with a NoSQL cluster.

In the illustrated example, the single web server needs some resiliency but not at the level delivered by Enterprise Class. Therefore, a Business Class instance is the more efficient choice. As this solution uses NoSQL for storage, the resiliency requirement is minimal. The NoSQL cluster is acting in a N+1 manner to store data and serve up queries. It’s a better choice to take advantage of MiraCloud’s volume snapshot capabilities for recovery.
