CEO and Co-Founder
Matthew Porter, Chief Executive Officer at Contegix, co-founded the award winning managed hosting, cloud computing and colocation service provider. Contegix is widely recognized throughout the industry for delivering reliable hosting with expert support to drive customer value. During his tenure, the company’s revenue has doubled consistently, year over year. In addition to its financial growth, the organization that began as a two-person team, now employees over 50 people in Saint Louis, Missouri. Porter continues to drive innovation, promote rapid organizational growth and foster the core values of Contegix by empowering employees, partners and customers respectively.
Before founding Contegix, Porter served as Director of Professional Services for Demand Management Inc. (DMI) in Saint Louis. At DMI, Porter built a team of senior developers and consultants to implement the next-generation of enterprise supply chain management. Porter has also held the position of Senior Application Developer for World Wide Technology and senior engineering positions at TelcoBuy.com and IBM Global Services.
Recently, Porter was inducted into the 2010 John Cook School of Business Smurfit-Stone Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame as the “Under 40 Entrepreneur” at Saint Louis University and was named one of the “30 Under 30” by the Saint Louis Business Journal in 2007. Porter serves as a board member for Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Saint Louis where he coaches and mentors early-stage entrepreneurs. Porter also sits on the Advisory Board for a select number of startups, including OffCampusMedia.
Porter was educated at Saint Louis University, where he earned his B.S. in Applied Computer Science. Porter, his wife and three children, reside in Saint Charles, Missouri.
CTO and Co-Founder
Craig McElroy, Chief Technology Officer at Contegix, co-founded the award winning managed hosting, cloud computing and colocation service provider. At Contegix, McElroy’s mission is to empower business owners and managers, allowing them to invest more heavily in product innovation, talent acquisition and other business tools needed to gain a competitive edge in their respective industries. McElroy is responsible for the company’s continuous growth through guiding and planning rapid innovation on Contegix’s offerings. McElroy builds on core service capabilities in the areas of traditional managed hosting; cloud infrastructure as a Service and enterprise applications management. He is also responsible for fostering strategic industry partnerships to implement additional capabilities at Contegix. These contributions enable Contegix to provide customers with cost effective solutions to a wide variety of unique business needs.
Before founding Contegix, McElroy served as Senior Software Engineer for Demand Management Inc. (DMI) in Saint Louis. At DMI, McElroy specialized in database design and optimization for the next-generation of enterprise supply chain management. McElroy has also served as a Senior Database Administrator and Senior Applications Developer at World Wide Technology. McElroy also obtained valuable system and database administration experience through his service at Medicus Systems Corp and Union Pacific Railroad.
McElroy spends his free time cycling, running, riding his motorcycle and enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
McElroy attended the University of Missouri in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he earned his B.S. in Computer Science.
Director of Talent and Organizational Development
Jason Smith is the Director of Talent and Organizational Development at Contegix. When Smith first joined Contegix in 2008, he was responsible for directing the company’s technical support staff. During his time as the Director of Client Technical Support, Smith demonstrated a keen understanding of the importance of obtaining valuable talent to promote stellar customer support. Based on his understanding and methodology, in October of 2010, Smith was asked to take on his new role as the Director of Talent and Organizational Development. In this capacity, Smith is responsible for ensuring that all Contegix positions are filled with capable, dependable and customer focused individuals. Smith is also responsible for training and development of the staff at Contegix and promoting an organizational culture that fosters growth while honoring the company’s number one value to consistently WOW customers.
Prior to joining Contegix, Smith served as Director of Information Technology, IT Projects Engineer and Information Systems Manager at various firms across the Saint Louis area.
Under Smith’s leadership, Contegix won several industry accolades, including Linux Journal’s Readers’ Choice Award. Smith spends much of his free time focused on physical exercise and wellness. Smith also donates his time coaching soccer for children ages 7 to 12 through multiple community organizations.
Smith earned his Executive MBA at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Director of Client Technical Support
Jason Alvey is the Director of Client Technical Support at Contegix. Contegix is known for unmatched customer advocacy and service throughout the industry due to consistent delivery of reliable hosting coupled with expert technical support. In this role, Alvey is responsible for upholding Contegix’s well-established reputation for expedited, expert technical advice and support. Alvey’s demonstrated track record for providing excellent customer service and increasing employee satisfaction throughout his career, made him the logical choice to lead the Contegix support team.
Prior to joining Contegix, Alvey’s responsibilities have included network administration, network architecture, applications development and project management as well as managing and directing teams. Throughout his 12 years in the Information Technology field, he has worked for Webster University, Citigroup and Monsanto.
Alvey earned a Boeing Technology Scholarship at the start of his career and has earned several networking and security certifications. Alvey enjoys biking, reading and spending time with his wife and children.
Alvey earned his B.S. in Information Management and his Master’s in Information Management at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he graduated magna cum laude.
